Infographics Africa●Every chart carries its source
IAInfographics Africa

Method

How every chart on this site is sourced and checked.

Every figure has a named source and a year

We do not publish a number we cannot attribute. Each chart lists its sources with the publisher, the exact document, and the year the figures refer to. Where a chart mixes years, the chart note says so.

We prefer primary and official data

Our order of preference is: official statistics and primary institutional data (World Bank, IMF, the UN and its agencies, the African Development Bank, ITU, IEA, IRENA, UNCTAD, national statistics offices and central banks), then documented sector reports, then established press for context only. Projections are labelled as projections.

Two sets of eyes

Each chart is researched against the opened source, then independently checked by a second reviewer who reopens every source before the chart goes live. Figures that cannot be reconfirmed are removed.

Corrections

If a figure is wrong or out of date, we fix it and note the change. Write to corrections@infographicsafrica.com.

This is a launch build. Data shown is sourced as described above.
